Introducing Susan J. Biddle

Freelance since January 2012 after 25 years in local government, working locally in RB Greenwich, and nationally for the Improvement and Development Agency for local government (IDeA) where I developed and led national improvement support programmes.
A professional background in organisation and personal development I am an accredited trainer, qualified executive coach, MBTI assessor and hold a Masters in Management Learning. Experienced in working with groups and individuals, in supporting change and transition and in the design, development and leadership of major programmes.
Wide ranging experience of providing support at all levels of within organisation, with national bodies, health professionals, the voluntary and community sector and trades unions. In my 12 year career at IDeA I led on frontline workforce development, e-learning, organisation development and special projects. Between 2006 and 2011, I was Head of the DH funded Healthy Communities Programme – working to support councils in their actions to reduce health inequalities and provide local health leadership.
Since January 2012 I have been working as a freelance coach and consultant. Recent work and clients have included:
- LB Hounslow: with the Health and Wellbeing Board around an inclusive approach to the older community; stakeholder engagement exercises with providers, the community and third sector to inform commissioning of a new integrated wellbeing service for the borough; open space event for senior managers around re-location.
- Sustrans and The Soil Association: design and development of ‘Creating Healthy Places’ – a development support programme for local authorities on a whole systems approach to food and physical activity.
- Berkshire NHS East and West Public Health Teams: learning sets to support the transition of the two public health teams to the six Berkshire Unitary Authorities.
- Berkshire Public Health: Stakeholder consultation exercise to inform the commissioning of their Sexual Health services
- London, Kent, Sussex and Surrey Public Health Deanery: training needs analysis and learning sets around the transition support needs of public health education supervisors
- Association of Directors of Public Health: scoping, specification and workforce engagement for the development of a pan-London Public Health Workforce Development programme.

Introducing Sue Johnson

With over thirty years experience as a training and organisational development manager and director, Sue Johnson now runs her own consultancy business specialising in coaching, personal development, group facilitation and organisational development. She is currently providing leadership and management coaching for the Civil Service Learning Programme via a Capita framework contract and undertaking bespoke pieces of work for NHS and local government organisations. Sue also chairs events for Westminster Briefing on a regular basis.
Sue has been supporting and developing people and organisations in the local government, health and not for profit sectors at a national, regional and local level throughout her career. Her roles have included Head of the Central Training Unit at the London Borough of Greenwich, Interim Director of HR/OD for the ALG (now London Councils,) Performance Development Manager at the Local Government Improvement Development Agency and Head of the DH funded Healthy Communities Programme, which was hosted by the Local Government Association.
In addition to the above, Sue was Chair of Governors for a large Lewisham primary School for two years, was a Non Executive Director and Deputy Chair for NHS Lewisham for 5 years and until 2013 was a Non Executive Director for Sussex Community NHS Trus. In this latter role, Sue acted as the Senior Independent Director, the Whistleblowing Lead and was Chair of the HR/OD Committee.
Sue is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development, a qualified Executive Coach and Mentor and a Myers Briggs Practitioner. Having lived in SE London all of her life, Sue moved to Hove in 2012 and is now enjoying the sea and countryside in Sussex.Sue has recently become a volunteer at Nymans, a national Trust property and gardens in West Sussex.
Introducing Trish Bartley

Trish Bartley has been involved in teaching Mindfulness-Based Programmes (MBPs) since the early days of MBCT and has been training health professionals to teach MBPs for 15 years. Trish has a background in community development and has developed a particular interest in the teaching of mindfulness-based groups and in group process. Her early mindfulness teachers were Jon Kabat-Zinn, Mark Williams and significantly John Teasdale, who supported her over many years to adapt MBCT for people with cancer. She has published two books on the subject Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Cancer (Bartley, 2012) and Mindfulness: A Kindly Approach to Being with Cancer (Bartley, 2017). Trish is a senior teacher at the Centre for Mindfulness, Research and Practice at Bangor University and leads workshops and retreats in the UK and further afield.
